Loaded Buns

Ha---That lured you in, huh? Nope, not being provocative- just hungry.

Here in NC we love our hot dogs! Dairi-O, Doss', Bill & Leah's, PB's they all bring big game. Buttery toasted buns, mustard, chili, slaw, onions. ~YUM! Well now that Baby K is cooking in my tummy the doctors have said no more hot dogs. AHGHH! Along with, deli meat ( ham, turkey, etc...), bleu cheese, feta cheese, brie. All my favorites.

So, Shon - my fellow preggers friend turned me on to THE LOADED BUN! I mean come on...I thought I was decently intelligent when it came to good ol' southern eats, but not even I thought of this one. I was too busy being sad I was with out for 9 months. Well...I've had one every day since she told me about them, I now think about them LOTS and if I weren't cramped into this situation called work right now I'd high tail it on down to the closest hot dog joint and dive in.

So----everyone fire up your grills & throw some dogs on! Celebrate! Enjoy them for how yummy they are. Not what little we really do know about them and why they are not safe for child bearing females. :)

DIY...Goodwill Chair Meets Cat Scratch Fever

So---Most of you that know me know I love my Friday's off. You also know that I usually get into some sort of crazy frugal DIY project each week. You're right and this week was no different; except for my projects are getting smaller. After a slow start to my day I decided it's about time I refinished that $4 goodwill chair. That's right $4. It started out like this:

But within 1 hour, a light sand job and 2 coats of glossy black and a round in a dark alley with a cat we have this little beauty!

Don't you just love her? I'm sure she'll be very versatile in this house as we never have enough seating and she can fit just about anywhere! Happy DIY Friday!

Monday 8/24/09 was our first OB appointment. All was well. We met with Mrs. Shultz one of the nurses there; she reviewed our medical histories and answered many of our questions. I had lab work done and that was it. We received a lot of reading material to keep us busy over the next few months. Our next appointment is on 9/11 for the first scheduled ultrasound. I think we'll be able to see more than we could on 8/23 and we're anxious to see how much the baby will have grown by then.

Baby's First Picture - Taken by Aunt Tella!

We had our first ultrasound done Sunday night by Aunt Tella. She's the best! Baby measured around 11mm - the size of a blueberry. The heart was beating away at 136bpm. Baby was tucked into a safe corner of the uterus and we could begin to see arm buds and orbits. How sweet - I teared up a little when we heard that little heart beat and Daddy was all grins. It was a special time for us and I'm glad we were able to share it with our family. Monday is our first OB appointment.

Magic Water, Timber Chicks and Morning Sickness

On Friday I took Daddy to Shatley Springs with some of his family. We had a grand time and ate until our bellies were too full. Then we sat out on the porch and sang some old timey songs with Uncle Plum-Plum. It must have been the magic water!

Then we met up with the rest of our family along with Robert & Timber Chick (T-L-T) to build a deck off the back of the "cabin". Nex time you see Tanya- ask her about her new nickname! It was a fun weekend and our men really showed up with skills! We all appreciate Robert & T-L-T for all they do; 2 of the sweetest people ever. THANK YOU!

I felt completely useless all weekend, including Sunday morning when I had mt first real experience with Baby K turning down food. I love...and I MEAN LOVE Neese's sausage biscuits with mustard and cheese. It's a NC thing. Well Saturday morning things went great- yum yum yum in the tum tum tum. Sunday- not so much! Same food, different day - couldn't pay me to eat it and on top of that I could not escape the smell. Needless to say, not fun. I looked like this most of the day and felt no better than I looked ( that's bad, actually I can't beleive I'm posting this pic! Good thing we don't know many folks up there! Ha! )
Even the dogs had a good trip and loved palying on the new deck!

Voo~Doo!

Witchcraft? VooDoo? Physic? Who knows...? I do know that Heather Christian freaked us all out today! I got a call at work from HC that I couldn't take and so she left a message. It went someting like...

"Hey, I hate we haven't spoken in a while, we've been very busy with J&L but I really need you to call me - TODAY - I've got a question and it's important. "

So, as soon as I got to a stopping place I went to return the call, not sure what I would be hearing I stepped into a quiet room. "Heather, it's April. HEY GIRL!...How are you, good, you...good! I've got a question. OK Shoot. ARE YOU PREGNANT? Ughhhh, yeah? How'd you know....And then there was silence, then OMG, I'm a witch!

Long story short- Heather has had a vivid- very vivid dream for 3 nights in a row that I am pregnant. It has been the same each night, but very realistic to her. This is the first of these "visions" she has had. I begged her to tell me more but it's all she knew. She was very adamant that we talk today because she had told KC that she wasn't going through another night until she knew what was going on with me.

I'm not one who has believed in these things before but, take it for what it's worth.

I am a new believer!

Moving Right Along

Can you beleive it? It's been over a week since I've posted. We've been busy spreading the news, visiting with family and last night was dinner with the Andrews and that was fun, as always. Dennis even brought his jokes.
Yesterday was the slowest day I've had, lots of sleepy time for this little Mama. Enough about me...let me tell how how proud I am of HD Granny Davis! We've been in this No Boundaries program through Fleet Feet for a few weeks now. It's a Run/Walk training program with over 200 people enrolled that ends with a 5K on 10/17/09 - yes we'll need you all at the finish line, virtually or physically. Here's a few photos of how our Saturday mornings have been going. You should see us running -we really do have fun and I'm so glad we're doing it! Good Job Mama!
